My name is Hassan, born in April 1982, manager of SARADIPOUR Company. As one of the youngest exporters of Iranian dried fruits, I started my career in 2006 in the field of exporting raisins and dates. Dissemination of rapid and transparent information on the internal developments of Iran’s dried fruits market (raisins and dates) was the main aim of launching this blog. Here, you can obtain first-hand information in an immediate environment that may leak out of Iran with delay and/or even such news may not reach the hands of importers of Iranian dried fruits. No need to explain that how much these news can be contributed in accurate decisions making of customers. I will be happy to help me in this way with sending your constructive comments below each post or e-mail (info@saradipour.com) . Also, you can establish direct contact with us through clicking on the Chat Icon in the right cornet and hand and/or get together to chat online with adding my Skype ID (SARADIPOUR). Looking forwards to my subsequent posts.<ins datetime="2012-01-15T12:49:02+00:00">

The History of the Pistachio
Documents and research have shown that the origin of pistachio trees lies in the North-east of Iran. For
5000 years people have been eating pistachios. Historic records claim that the queen of Sheba herself,
demanded all of the Assyrian pistachios for her court.

The Botany of the Pistachio
The pistachio belongs to the Ancardiaceae family. Pistachio trees usually grow up to 8 meters tall. These
trees can tolerate different extremes in temperature: up to 45°C and lower than 25°C. Pistachio trees are
second (after the date palm) which can survive for long periods of time without water. Their roots reach
deep into the soil to find water. Depending on the environment in which the tree is planted, a pistachio tree
will start to fruit between 7 to 10 years after being planted and continue to live and fruit for about 80 to 100
years.

The history of raisin
The raisin was discovered accidentally, many years before Christ. People ate grapes but did not know that if they were to dry the grape, it would become this useful and delicious dried fruit called the raisin. Historians claim that the Phoenicians and Armenians were the first nations to produce raisins. Phoenicians established vineyards in Spain and Greece that were fitting for cultivating raisins and the Armenians established their vineyards in Iran, Turkey and Iraq. The Greeks and Romans had a high demand for raisins and then other countries started to use raisins as well.

Botany of the grape
The grape is from the vitaceae family and has more than 800 varieties. The most common variety of grape is the vinifera. Grapes can be different colors, such as green, red, purple and yellow. Grapes can be eaten plain or processed into raisins, fruit juice and marmalade.

The nutritional value of raisins
100 grams of raisins contains about 300 calories and is composed of approximately 75% carbohydrates, 5.3% fiber, 2.8% protein, 0-4% fat and is rich in potassium
